About the workshop
The Biblical Language Refresher Workshop is a two-day workshop designed for pastors, teachers, seminarians, and anyone who has studied biblical Hebrew and/or Greek and wants to keep those language skills fresh and useful in service to the church.

The workshop combines expert-led review sessions with guided group reading and practical interaction with the biblical text. Experienced instructors will walk through foundational grammar concepts, key paradigms, and translation strategies to help rebuild confidence and strengthen understanding. Throughout the day, participants will also work through biblical texts in table groups led by facilitators who will help guide discussion, reading, and application of the material.

Many pastors and ministry leaders have invested significant time learning the biblical languages, yet the pace and demands of ministry often make it difficult to keep those skills active. Over time, paradigms fade, vocabulary weakens, and confidence in reading the text can begin to disappear. This workshop exists to help participants reconnect with the languages that open up the Scriptures in powerful ways.
Who is this for?
This event is designed for anyone who has studied biblical Hebrew and/or Greek and wants to grow in their facility with the languages. It is intentionally structured for a wide range of skill levels. Some participants may actively use the languages every week, while others may feel extremely rusty or unsure of how much they remember. All are welcome. The workshop is designed to encourage growth, and participants will be grouped in ways that help foster meaningful learning and conversation. Whatever your skill level, the goal is to help you make progress.

About The Instructors
Dr. Rebekah Josberger is passionate about Old Testament studies and biblical languages, particularly Hebrew. Her goal is for students to learn to read and understand the Word for themselves, whether in Hebrew or English, so that they better know its Author. Her work focuses on helping the church to understand the role of Torah as an invitation to know God by imitating his character. This work builds on the findings of her dissertation, “Between Rule and Responsibility: The Role of the Father as Agent of Righteousness in Deuteronomy’s Domestic Ideology."

Dr. Jon Robertson, originally from Hood River, taught as a professor of Historical Theology, New Testament, and Greek at Multnomah Biblical Seminary and previously served for 13 years as a missionary and seminary leader in Ecuador alongside his wife Erin. Educated at Western Baptist Seminary and the University of Oxford, his scholarship focuses on early Christian theology, resulting in the book Christ as Mediator and numerous writings on early Christian thought. He also enjoys woodcarving and amateur astronomy, and he and Erin have three grown children and nine grandchildren.
